HowToDressMyBaby
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
HowToDressMyBaby helps you decide what to dress your baby in for today's weather. This policy describes what information the site handles, and it reflects the product's actual behavior — nothing more.
Location
With your permission, your browser's location is used to look up the weather for the area you're in. You can also search for a city instead. The coordinates are sent to our server, which passes them to the weather provider to fetch current conditions.
Coordinates are used to fetch and briefly cache weather results for that lookup. We do not store precise location in a database or associate it with an account.
Country information for city shortcuts
Our hosting platform may provide a coarse country code derived from your IP address. It is used only at request time to suggest popular cities for that country (for example, US or Canada defaults). It is not stored and is not precise location.
Preferences stored on your device
Your browser's local storage on this device keeps two preferences: your baby's age group and your temperature-unit choice (°C or °F). Nothing else is stored locally. You can clear them by clearing your browser's storage for this site.
External services
Weather provider. We use weatherapi.com to fetch current weather and to search for cities. The coordinates or the text you search are sent to this provider through our server. Their privacy policy applies to that data.
Error monitoring. We use Sentry to monitor errors so the site keeps working. Error reports may include technical details such as the page, browser, and error message. We do not intentionally send your name, address, or precise location to Sentry. Sentry has its own privacy policy.
What we don't do
No advertising tracking.
No product analytics scripts.
No accounts or profiles.
No cookies used for tracking or advertising.
Data retention
Weather lookups are cached in memory on our server for a short time (about 15 minutes) for efficiency. They are not written to a database and are discarded when the server restarts.
Device preferences stay on your device until you clear them.
Error reports are retained according to Sentry's retention policy.
